Famous Everton fan Tony Bellew has jokingly suggested that Liverpool should sell Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian, who earns £200,000-per-week at Anfield (Spotrac), was one of the best players in Europe last season having scored 44 goals in 52 appearances for the Merseyside club.

However, the season didn’t end as he would have hoped, after going off injured in the UEFA Champions League final vs Real Madrid after a challenge from Real defender Sergio Ramos.

The local boxer, who is a massive Toffees supporter, has revealed that he hopes Barcelona sign the 26-year-old this summer.

“We’ve just got to hope Barcelona come in for [Mohamed] Salah, mate. I’m just praying every day. [I want] just one of them to come in and take him,’ Bellew told talkSPORT.

“They’re going to challenge [for the Premier League title].

“I can’t lie, they play frightening football, they really do and he [Jurgen Klopp] is a fantastic manager.

“He’s got some fantastic players at his disposal and, like I said before, his greatest asset is he signs players who fit perfectly into his system and they want to play for him.

“It’s all coming at the right time for them which is haunting me, it really is. It’s killing me inside.

“I say good luck to them just please sell Salah. Hurry up and sell Salah.”

OPINION

I think Tony Bellew is echoing the thoughts of every single Everton fan with his comments. Liverpool had such a great season last time out and Mohamed Salah was at the forefront of everything that the Reds did. The fact that the Toffees had a poor season last time out only provides further misery for the other half of Merseyside and their fans. After selling the likes of Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Philippe Coutinho to other clubs for giant fees over the last few years, the Anfield supporters will be hoping that their time as a selling club is now over for good. The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid will have looked at the possibility of buying Salah in this transfer window, as is expected after such a good season, but finally, Jurgen Klopp’s side look like they might be able to hang on to one of their star players for the long-term, whatever Bellew might wish.
